Our Assets
Brucejack
In November 2021 Newcrest agreed to acquire Pretium Resources Inc., including 100% of the Brucejack operation. Brucejack adds a Tier 1 large scale, long life, low cost mine to Newcrest’s portfolio of Tier 1 assets.
Newcrest acquired Pretium Resources and the Brucejack operation on 9 March 2022.
The mining method at Brucejack is long-hole stoping using a combination of longitudinal and transverse mining, depending on zone width and orientation. The ore is crushed underground and conveyed to surface where the fully-enclosed mill produces gold-silver dore bars and flotation concentrate.
Growth opportunities
Brucejack offers significant near mine and district-scale exploration opportunities with exciting potential to realise resource and reserve growth. Newcrest will look to build on the strong foundations established by Pretivm to optimise and further unlock the value of Brucejack.
Sustainability and community
Newcrest intends to:
- Invest in Brucejack and Red Chris mines and in the region to promote economic growth opportunities in the region
- Continue to deliver strong safety, environmental and sustainability outcomes
- Honour Pretivm’s commitments to First Nations and continue to build and maintain positive relationships with local communities
- Provide support to organisations that actively contribute to the wellbeing of people in the communities on whose lands Brucejack operates.
