Community Support Fund

Ecuador

A total of six projects in Ecuador were identified under the Community Support Fund by working closely with the government and community representatives.

The Projects included:

The first Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the Zamora Chinchipe province
In collaboration with Lundin Gold, SolGold and Newcrest, the project donated A$1.292 million to the procurement, installation and training of medical equipment in a newly fitted-out room funded and implemented by government authorities within the existing Yantzaza Hospital. Since opening in April 2021, the ICU has increased medical capability for COVID-19 patients and provided an enduring legacy for the province.

Humanitarian support
Food and personal hygiene items were delivered to vulnerable groups in Gualel and Tundayme.

Syringe donation
In collaboration with the Chamber of Mines Ecuador, four million syringes were supplied to support Ecuador’s vaccination program.
